Dust Safety Science to Host Digital Conference in 2020

October 16, 2019

Combustible dust research organization Dust Safety Science is hosting a four day digital conference in early 2020 that will cover equipment, education, compliance, and safety developments in industries that handle, process, generate, and transport combustible dust.

Running from February 24-26, the Digital Dust Safety Conference will feature two days of industry training – including equipment, compliance, and engineering guidance – and a two-day research conference that allows students, academics, and professionals to offer presentations on topics like ignition control, explosion testing, and fire and explosion modelling.

The organization said the event is the “world’s only online combustible dust conference.” Registration for general admission opens on October 31 and costs $225 for Early Bird registrants and $275 for regular admission.

Participants in the Digital Dust Safety Conference will have access to an equipment and service provider portal that allows users to connect with combustible dust experts, media organizations, trade associations, and providers of equipment and services.

Chris Cloney, the founder of Dust Safety Science, has been active in documenting and analyzing combustible dust fire and explosion incidents since 2016. Dust Safety Science is leading one of the first comprehensive efforts to collect data on dust-related fires and explosions. The organization issues annual and semi-annual reports on incidents, publishes a weekly newsletter, and provides a directory of companies offering prevention and protection solutions.
