Dust-Related Fire Reported at Polaris Plant in Alabama

A dust-related fire broke out at the Polaris Industries Inc. production facility in Huntsville, AL last Wednesday morning, several local news organizations reported. 

Some 1,000 people were forced to evacuate the Greenbrier Parkway facility after the fire started at about 8:45 a.m., coverage by ABC News affiliate WAAY said. The blaze ignited when sparks contacted an accumulation of dust in an air filter, according to the broadcaster. 

A Polaris spokesperson told television news station WHNT that the blaze started in the plant’s welding department. No injuries were logged during the incident.

Based in Medina, MN, Polaris is a manufacturer of powersports and commercial vehicles, including snowmobiles, boats, ATVs, and motorcycles. 

Last month, crews responded the Iowa Spring Manufacturing spring production plant in Adel, IA after a dust collector caught on fire. Workers were also evacuated during that incident.
