American agribusiness Cargill is planning to shutter two of its animal feed manufacturing facilities in New York and North Carolina and shift operations to other sites in a bid to increase the efficiency of its assets, trade and local news organizations reported this week.

The company will close its Kennedy feed mill in Jamestown, NY on November 29 to “streamline operations and better serve customers more efficiently and effectively in the northeast market,” Cargill said in a statement quoted by the Jamestown Post-Journal. Seven jobs at the site are impacted by the decision.

Another Cargill feed mill in Wilson, NC is slated to close on November 29. That site is also closing due to efforts to “streamline operations” and improve service to customers in the southeastern U.S., a Cargill spokesperson told The Wake Weekly. About 26 workers currently work at the site.

Also this week, Cargill announced plans to invest $225 million in an expansion of its Sidney, OH soybean crush and oil refining site and a fire broke out at a Cargill protein facility that left two people with injuries.
