Cargill India Names Simon George as New President

December 4, 2018

American agribusiness Cargill recently named Simon George as president of its business in India as its current head Siraj Chaudhry prepares to step down, Indian news organizations reported.

Presently serving as the leader of Cargill India’s starches, sweeteners, and texturizers business, George has occupied several senior management positions during his career in the country’s food and beverage industry. From 2007 to 2011, George led Cargill India’s flavor business.

“I am honored to take up this new role. I strongly believe in the India growth strategy set out by our global leadership,” George said in a statement printed by The Hindu Business Line. “Working together with all our partners, I am sure Cargill will take an even more prominent position in the Indian market in the near future.”

Reports said the company plans to retain Chaudhry, who occupied the role of chairman and country representative at Cargill India for 12 years, as a senior advisor after the transition.
