A grain storage bin collapsed at the Bunge Corporation grain elevator in LaGrange, MO on Monday morning, causing about 850,000 bushels of corn to spill out into the area, local news organizations reported.

LaGrange Fire Chief Henry Gunsauls told news radio station KHMO that the failure occurred at about 5 a.m. as work was being performed on the bin. No injuries were reported, but the fire official said that clean-up efforts at the site could stretch on for weeks.

Officials closed a section of a road near the grain elevator because corn and debris were on the pavement, according to coverage by the Lewis County Press-News Journal. Television news station KHQA said it received several reports of power outages following the collapse.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
