Specialty chemicals and high-performance materials firm Arkema recently completed a €20 million (about $21.9 million) project to install a new production line for ultra-high performance polyamide 12 powders at its facility in Mont, France, the company announced in a release Tuesday. With the completion of the project, Arkema increased its global capacity for the powders by more than 50%.

“The Mont site has a long, proven legacy in the production of specialty powders,” Erwoan Pezron, global president of Arkema’s Technical Polymers business line, said in a statement. “With this new production capacity, we continue to actively support our customers’ continued growth in cutting edge applications, notably in high performance coatings, composites, and 3D printing.”

The company said the capacity expansion is linked to increased demand for the product within niche industrial applications like coatings, personal care, composites, and additive manufacturing. Arkema’s Polyamide 12 powders are sold under the Orgasol brand.

Orgasol powders are known for their narrow particle size distribution and durability, according to the company.
