American agribusiness Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) held a ribbon cutting event on Monday to mark the completion of a modernization project at its Enid, OK flour mill that replaced two aging milling units with a single new, automated system, the company announced in a press release.

Originally opened in 1928, the upgrades to the mill grew the site’s capacity. ADM also plans to install a new high-speed packer in the first quarter of 2019.

“Increasing food processing is one of our long-standing goals for the state of Oklahoma,” Gov. Mary Fallin, said in a statement. “This ribbon cutting today represents progress toward that goal for Oklahoma, for Enid, and for our wheat producers. The investment by ADM will ensure its long-term viability in our state.”

ADM Milling operates a number of flour mills throughout the U.S.

Plans for the modernization effort were first announced in August 2017, Powder & Bulk Solids reported.
