Three people were injured in a blast Wednesday morning at a petrochemical plant in Ulsan, Korea, according to a report by The Korea Herald

An oil storage tank at the Kolon Industries petroleum resin facility exploded at about 8:25 a.m. When the incident occurred, three subcontractors were at the top of the tank working to connect piping, the newspaper’s coverage said. The workers fell about 1.5 meters after the blast, and one of the subcontractors received first-degree burns.

The Herald said the facility was undergoing regular maintenance at the time. Investigators told the newspaper that the explosion may have occurred because lingering vapor in the tank quickly increased in pressure.

Kolon Industries’ Chemicals segment produces hydrocarbon resins, phenolic resin, epoxy resin, and PU/TPU, information on the company’s website said. The Korea-based firm also produces industrial materials, films and electronic materials, and fashion-related products.
