Bulk Mixing and Super Sack Filling System
June 4, 2013
This large-capacity mixing system pneumatically conveys, mixes, and discharges free-flowing bulk solids into super sacks to achieve a consistent homogeneous blend of material. Dry bulk solids can be delivered to the mixer by dumper, screw conveyor, or pneumatically. Process repeatability in the mixing phase is ensured with the use of an Allen Bradley digital timer. Auto and manual control is provided through an Allen Bradley PLC and touch-screen operator station. Once the mix cycle is complete, a slide gate valve automatically opens to discharge into the integral bulk bag filler. A Parker locking cylinder holds the bag up during fill start then relaxes the bag onto the weigh table. The scale system uses four load cells and a Rice Lake SCT-20 conditioner to provide accurate and repeatable filling operations. The optional densification table uses two heavy duty Martin vibrators to settle material in the container at programmable intervals during the fill cycle. Once the fill cycle is complete, the controller releases the bag straps so the super sack can be easily removed. The whole cycle restarts with a push of a button.
