A 55-year-old man died after becoming trapped in equipment at the American Nickeloid Co. plant in Peru, IL.

Emergency personnel were sent to the American Nickeloid Co. plant in Peru, IL on Monday, February 21 after a worker became trapped in a piece of conveying equipment, several local news organizations reported. The 55-year-old man reportedly died a day later from injuries.

Peru Police told the Shaw Local News Network that the worker became stuck in the conveyor around 6 a.m. and was freed once first responders arrived on scene. He was transported by helicopter to a local hospital for treatment.

The deceased man was identified as 55-year-old William Schmollinger of Dalzell, IL. An obituary posted to Legacy.com stated he had worked for American Nickeloid for a decade.

American Nickeloid is a supplier of specialty coated metals, pre-plated metals, pre-polished metals, pre-painted metals, and vinyl-metal laminates. The firm operates manufacturing locations in Peru, IL and Walnutport. PA.
