Semi-Crystalline Replaces Metal Parts in Food Applications
November 3, 2015
Tecapet semi-crystalline polyester stock shapes from Ensinger Inc. have been proven to be an ideal replacement for metal parts in many food industry applications. Tecapet exhibits excellent wear and chemical resistance, along with good mechanical properties and low moisture absorption.
These durable stock shapes are often used in food filling and other processing machines as well as conveying equipment where parts may be subject to chlorinated or caustic cleaning solutions.
In addition to excellent physical properties, Tecapet stock shapes certify to be compliant to FDA regulations. Manufacturers will often only certify that resins they use comply with FDA CFR regulations. Tecapet stock shapes have been tested and found to be compliant with requirements in FDA regulation 21 CFR 177.1630. This means users can be sure there will be no migration of extractable from plastic that could potentially contaminate food products.
