Glanbia Nutritionals Buys Custom Flavor Manufacturer Foodarom

Food ingredients and cheese products firm Glanbia Nutritionals is expanding its range of offerings to the food, beverage and nutritional product industries with the acquisition of Canada-based Foodarom, a designer and manufacturer of custom flavors.

Established in 2006, Foodarom has a flavor library of 15,000 recipes for liquid and powder flavors. The company is headquartered in Montreal and operates production plants in Salt Lake City and Bremen, Germany, as well as culinary labs in San Diego and Milan, Italy.

“We recently shared our ambition to scale the flavors area of our business and we are very pleased to announce this acquisition of Foodarom,” Brian Phelan, chief executive officer of Glanbia Nutritionals said in a recent release announcing the transaction. “We are excited to welcome their 130-strong team to Glanbia with their exceptional reputation and commitment to flavor excellence. I am delighted with the significant additional capabilities we will be able to offer the customers of both organizations by joining our great teams together.”

The combination of R&D teams from Foodarom and Glanbia Nutritionals will bolster the firms position in flavors. The deal also strengthens its capabilities in flavors and nutritional solutions.
