Habasit America Opens New Building in Georgia

Habasit America, a worldwide leader in the conveyor belt manufacturing industry, held the official ribbon cutting ceremony for its new 340,000-sq-ft North American headquarters on April 21. In attendance were Congressman John Linder and vice president, Economic Development & Partnership of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, Nick Masino, both of whom spoke at the ceremony addressing employees and staff. Habasit is making a commitment to Gwinnett County with the purchased land and building and a commitment to the environment with the ‘green’ enhancements made to this new facility.

Habasit America CEO, Harry Cardillo, said, “It’s nice to finally have all employees under one roof. We are excited about the commitment Habasit is making to North America with this multi-million dollar investment in capital and the growth it brings with it for the company.”

Previously, Habasit owned a 50,000-sq-ft building that housed the plastic modular belt production of the company and was leasing a building for the fabric production facility down the road. The current addition of another 290,000 sq ft to the original building for the fabric production and office personnel has brought everyone together. Now with everyone in one building, production is streamlined. In the new facility, 40,000 sq ft is dedicated to office space and 300,000 sq ft is dedicated to the production facility of both fabric and plastic modular belting.

The facility includes more meeting space and adequately sized manufacturing work areas. An increased network bandwidth alleviates network congestion and enhances overall performance. Habasit continues to improve on automation processes for fabrication. A new automatic storage and retrieval system has been incorporated into the modular fabrication area, creating a more efficient use of space and better inventory allocation.

Habasit continues to adopt practices to reduce its overall impact on the environment. This new building utilizes more energy-efficient motion sensor lighting, censored faucets, and instant heaters that do not require natural gas and turn off automatically to reduce waste, along with a high energy-efficient roof and air conditioning units.

Habasit is a leading manufacturer of conveyor belts, plastic modular belts, seamless belts, power transmission belts, timing belts, and gear motors. The company offers a full range of belting products, belt joining tools, and gear motors in order to provide the optimal solution for every application.
