The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reports that 2010 shipments in North America were up 9.6%. CEMA estimates that shipments totaled $6.642 billion for 2010, an increase of $584 million from 2009 shipments of $6.058 billion. CEMA estimates that new orders totaled $6.85 billion in 2010. New orders in 2010 were $1.14 billion more than 2009, representing an increase of 19.96%.    
 
CEMA president, Bill Pugh, announced the results at the Association’s 78th annual meeting in La Quinta, CA, earlier this month.
 
CEMA tracks new orders and shipped sales volume in seven classes of unit handling equipment and five classes of bulk handling equipment.  
 
The executives representing CEMA member companies who attended the annual meeting expressed continued optimism in 2011 and forecasted an 8% increase in shipments.
