Conveyor Compresses, Shapes Filled Bags
August 3, 2015
The conveyor pictured is designed to compress and shape filled bags to create uniform bag thicknesses and ultimately uniform layers during the palletizing process. Filled bags are typically bottom heavy or tear shaped when discharged from the filling scale. After conveying through the closing station the bags pass through either a bag kicker or bag turner to lay the bag down flat and oriented bottom-first or with the larger filled end of the bag presented for entry into the bag flattener. The weight of the upper conveyor compresses the product uniformly in the bag, creating a uniform thickness to aid creating a uniform pallet stack. The upper conveyor is easily adjusted through use of a joystick to quickly inflate or deflate air bags for varying bag thicknesses.
