CEMA's April Booked Orders up 72% over 2010

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reported that its April 2011 Booked Orders Index was 219, up 27 points or 14% from March 2011’s Index of 192, and an increase of 72% from the April 2010 Index of 127.

April Booked Orders Indexes were 242 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 218 for Unit Handling Equipment*.

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 154 in April, an increase of 5% from March 2011’s Twelve-Month Index of 146.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 155 in April, a decrease of 7% from March 2011’s Index of 167. The April 2011 Index represents an increase of 35% from the April 2010 Index of 115.
  
April Billed Sales Indexes were 247 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 138 for Unit Handling Equipment*.

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 142 in April. Index in April represents an increase of 2% from March 2011’s Twelve-Month Index of 139.
  
* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly and are averaged back to the two preceding months, the booked and billed indexes for non-quarter ending months for Bulk Handling Equipment and Category X, total of all categories, are adjusted quarterly.
