CEMA Reports 25% Increase in Booked Orders

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reports that its December 2010 Booked Orders Index was 159, up 32 points or 25% from November 2010’s Index of 127. The December 2010 Index represents an increase of 51% from the December 2009 Index of 105.

December Booked Orders Indexes were 211 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 145 for Unit Handling Equipment*.

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 133 in December, an increase of 4% from November 2010’s Twelve-Month Index of 128.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 137 in December, an increase of 6% from November 2010’s Index of 129. The December 2010 Index represents an increase of 30% from the December 2009 Index of 105.
  
December Billed Sales Indexes were 224 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 120 for Unit Handling Equipment*.

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 129 in December, an increase of 2% from November 2010’s Twelve-Month Index of 126.
  
* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly and are averaged back to the two preceding months, the booked and billed indexes for non-quarter ending months for Bulk Handling Equipment and Category X, total of all categories, are adjusted quarterly.
