Vortex Acquires SolidEx
The rail car loading systems company will further expand Vortex's expertise and capabilities in the dry bulk material handling industry.
Vortex Global, a leading provider of components for the transport and flow control of dry bulk solids, has acquired SolidEx, a premier integrator of rail car loading solutions based in Baton Rouge, LA.
SolidEx will be part of the Vortex family of companies, further expanding Vortex's expertise and capabilities in the dry bulk material handling industry.
The company is renowned for its spin loader technology. This solution addresses the challenges of traditional railcar loading methods, which typically fill railcars to only 80-85% capacity. The spin loader distributes plastic pellets, increasing railcar fill rates to 99% and generating millions in annual savings.
The technology offers a cleaner, environmentally friendly alternative to previous loading methods and supports the Operation Clean Sweep initiative to prevent plastic pellets, flakes, and powder from entering the environment during the rail car loading process.
"Our mission has always been to put the customer first," said Travis Young, CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Vortex Global. "By acquiring SolidEx, we continue to expand our ability to offer innovative and reliable solutions to meet the most demanding applications in the dry bulk solids industry."
SolidEx and Vortex already have enjoyed a 10+ year partnership. During that time, Vortex manufactured the SolidEx loading equipment that connects to the spin loader, including positioners and loading spouts.
The acquisition of SolidEx underscores Vortex's commitment to enhancing its product offerings and providing unparalleled service to its customers. The integration of the advanced railcar loading solutions with Vortex’s extensive product line will deliver significant value to clients, particularly in the plastics industry where SolidEx has made an impact.
