Registration is open for three courses from the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) and Kansas State University Distance Education Program. GEAPS 510: Facilities Planning & Design I, GEAPS 541: Developing an Effective Safety Culture at Your Company, and GEAPS 551: Materials Handling II run May 27-June 27.
       
Gain useful information for facility update and redesign projects both large and small with GEAPS 510: Facilities Planning and Design I. Topics include grain facility and storage structure types, storage and handling capacities, and selecting a suitable construction site. Completion of this course confers credit toward the Credential in Grain Operations Management (CGOM).
       
GEAPS 541: Developing an Effective Safety Culture at Your Company is a new course on evaluating and improving company “safety culture.” Safety specialists, including Chris Goulart of RCI Safety, lead participants through lectures on what "safety culture" really means, what makes a strong versus weak safety culture, and why practicing safety is always a good business decision. This course brings graduates closer to the Specialist Credential in Property and Casualty Risk Management.
       
GEAPS 551: Materials Handling II builds on the information in GEAPS 550: Materials Handling I, with in-depth lectures on screw feeders, drag conveyors and bucket elevator cups and pulleys. If you’re involved in management, operations, or maintenance, this course is designed for you. Completion of GEAPS 551 counts towards the Specialist Credential in Grain Handling Equipment Management.
      
Courses are administered entirely online, and consist of 10 hour-long lectures developed and peer-reviewed by industry specialists. Tuition is $625 for GEAPS members and $795 for non-members.
