Metso to Supply Bulk Material-Handling Equipment to Heavy Engineering Corp. in India

Metso will supply bulk material-handling equipment to Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd. (HEC) for its material-handling project at the Steel Authority of India's (SAIL) Rourkela steel plant in Orissa, India. The plant is scheduled to commission in February 2011. The value of the order is approximately EUR 15 million and it is included in Metso Minerals' Q3 orders received.

The order comprises a rotary railcar dumper with a side arm charger, two apron feeders, two twin boom stackers, several different types of reclaimers, four paddle feeders, and a transfer car. The equipment delivery is complemented by design, engineering, supervision of erection, testing, and commissioning services.

The new bulk material-handling equipment will be sued to set up a new ore bedding and blending plant and base blending facilities for the Rourkela crude steel expansion project. When in full operation, the project is expected to process 4.2 million tons of crude steel per year.
