Matcon is a market leading organization specializing in the design and supply of flexible materials handling solutions using Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) technology. Matcon recently hosted another successful "Lean Manufacturing Open Day" at its UK headquarters, welcoming delegates from eight different countries.

The event was well attended by companies engaged in powder processing, with delegates representing a range of manufacturing industries including food ingredient producers, chemical powder processors, biosecurity and mineral agricultural producers, and building product/flooring manufacturers.

Brief, pointed presentations were delivered on ‘Lean Powder Processing’, Recipe Formulation, In-Bin Blending and Packing, as well as real solutions and case studies presented for putting "lean" into practice in powder process manufacture. Matcon’s Lean solutions and concepts can revolutionize powder process and packing operations, helping to achieve increased productivity, process efficiency, flexibility and profitability.

‘Live’ powder demonstrations were carried out during the day on Matcon's range of powder handling process equipment in our state-of-the-art test plant, where “real” working configurations showcased the latest IBC and related technology in sieving, dosing, mixing, and packing.

A special attraction included two full scale ingredient formulation systems, demonstrating automatic formulation of recipe batches including full tracking and traceability of materials using advanced RFID technology.

The day’s event program was well received and feedback from delegates was positive.
