Martin Engineering Publishes Fourth Edition of FOUNDATIONS Book

Martin Engineering, a leading international supplier of systems and services to improve the handling of bulk materials, has released the fourth edition of its FOUNDATIONS Book, the seminal work on improving belt conveyors by controlling fugitive material.

Subtitled “The Practical Resource for Cleaner, Safer, More Productive Dust & Material Control,” the new edition is a 576-page hard-cover volume for industries where the efficient handling of bulk materials is a key to productivity and profitability. The book provides useful information for personnel at all levels including plant managers, plant and conveyor engineers, safety and maintenance managers, and operation personnel.

The fourth edition is available in hard-cover copies or can be downloaded (entirely, or in topic sections) from the company’s Web site at www.martin-eng.com/F4.

“The new fourth edition of FOUNDATIONS is the largest volume and makes the greatest strides in offering solutions to real problems in the conveying of bulk materials,” says Todd Swinderman, chief technology officer and board member for Martin Engineering and one of the book’s lead authors. “We have placed increased emphasis on safety, on dust control, on the human factor in control of fugitive material, and on the payback for improvements in bulk material handling systems.”

The new edition was written by a team of Martin Engineering belt conveyor experts, headed by Swinderman, Andy Marti, Larry Goldbeck, Daniel Marshall, and Mark Strebel. The book draws on the expertise of more than 30 other company professionals from around the world, with expertise in subjects including dust management, belt cleaning, material science, safety, and conveyor engineering.

The fourth edition has been initially published in English, with additional languages planned in 2010.
