Andrew Knapp, project manager for River Consulting, recently participated in the organizational meeting of the committee formed to oversee a new distance education program on grain processing management as part of the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) and Kansas State University Distance Education partnership.
The GEAPS/Kansas State Distance Education program offers distance education courses and credentialing designed for professionals in grain operations and similar fields. Since the program’s start, it has been focused mainly on grain handling operation. However, the addition of the grain processing management units offers practical courses and credentials that broaden the scope of training potential for the overall program. The courses in the new program will provide training and skills necessary for operation of a flour mill or grain processing facility.
Knapp is a member of the oversight committee of the new program, which will develop and manage the creation of content for more than six primary modules. The program will give participants the opportunity to earn a credential in Grain Processing Management.
Knapp has more than 20 years experience in project management and engineering design in the grain industry. In addition, he has served as the lead project engineer for major grain processing projects and has expertise incorporating technologies and equipment for new facilities or retrofits for existing facilities.
River Consulting is a leading mid-major A/E to global energy, food, process, and industrial clients, delivering multidiscipline engineering and project management solutions for major capital projects and facility and process expansions
