INEOS to Double Capacity of Planned Gulf Coast Facility
March 25, 2019
Chemicals producer INEOS announced Saturday that it intends to double the capacity of its yet-to-be constructed ethylene oxide (EO) and ethylene oxide derivatives (EOD) production facility in the U.S. Gulf Coast.
“Doubling the capacity of our planned Ethylene Oxide and Derivatives facility is a significant commitment in support [of] our customers and their growth ambitions in the U.S.,” INEOS Oxide Operations Director Ghislain Decadt said in a company press release. “This build allows us to address a fast growing EO merchant market as well as our own requirements. Combined with our upstream olefins capabilities, this world class facility will secure our position as a reliable and competitive producer.”
The company said it is considering several locations in the Gulf Coast to build the facility. INEOS’ new site will enable third parties to co-locate and use EO brought in by pipeline and contain production assets ethoxylate derivatives.
In September 2018, Powder & Bulk Solids reported that INEOS was investing about $73 million to add a tenth furnace at its ethylene production plant in Grangemouth, UK.
