Emergency personnel responded to the Enon Road site at about 9 a.m., coverage by WHIO said. A call to 911 said the worker fell into the hopper and was upside down in 5 ft. of gravel.

The worker entered the hopper to clear material after a conveyor belt under the hopper stopped working, Bethel Township Fire Department Chief Jacob King told the Springfield News-Sun. Officials said crews made several attempts to rescue the man.
