Fire crews were called to the Kellogg Company’s W.K. Kellogg Institute in Battle Creek, MI on Thursday morning after a blaze and smoke was reported in a processing area of the facility, according to the Battle Creek Fire Department.
Responding to the alarm at about 7 a.m., firefighters arrived at the Hamblin Avenue scene and determined that the flames were in a storage room, the fire department said in a release. To access the fire, personnel had to cut through a rolling fire door.
Crews managed to douse the flames quickly before the fire reached other sections of the structure. The fire department said the facility’s second floor sustained some smoke and water damage.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. No injuries were reported during the response.
