Del Monte Foods is shutting down its plant in Hanford, CA, according to The Hanford Sentinel.

Workers with the Teamsters Union were told the news and 400-500 full-time union employees will be laid off with the timing to be announced in a state WARN notice expected to be published soon.
The 670,000-sq.-ft building is going to be sold, officials said.

Founded in 1886, Del Monte Foods has $1.73 billion in annual sales with brands including Del Monte, S&W, and Contadina.

The Sentinel reported two other recent tomato processing plant closures in the state of California: the Kingsburg Del Monte facilities and the Olam tomato plant in Lemoore.

Last month, Del Monte revealed new global flavors Mexican Style Street Corn and Southern Flavored Green Beans, likely trying their hand into new markets.

In February 2024, Del Monte Foods closed two canning plants in Toppenish, WA, with 127 layoffs, and Markesan, WI, with 90 layoffs.
