Crews Respond to Explosion, Fire at Iowa Grain Facility

Fire crews were called to the Consolidated Grain and Barge (CGB) facility in Clayton, IA on Tuesday afternoon after an explosion and fire were reported at the facility, local officials said.

First responders made their way to the scene after receiving a 911 call at about 1 p.m., the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said in a release posted to Facebook. 

“The fire and explosion were contained to an exterior building on the CGB property,” said Clayton County Sheriff Michael Tschirgi in a statement. “No injuries were reported.”

Members of the Guttenberg and Garnavillo fire departments responded to the incident. The cause of the fire and explosion remain is under investigation.
