Coperion is streamlining its North American operations in an effort to improve operational efficiency.

Its North American operations in Salina, KS, will be relocated in the coming months to its facilities in Whitewater, WI; Sabetha, KS; and Kansas City, MO, which manufacture similar products and have the capacity to handle larger volumes. The Whitewater and Kansas City facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art test centers and offer customer trials.

According to local news KSN, Coperion notified the mayor, the Kansas Department of Commerce, and KansasWorks that it is closing the facility by the end of the year, and 98 people will lose their jobs.

In a statement, Mike Gregozeski with Coperion K-Tron Salina wrote the first eight workers will be let go on March 27. Another 74 will leave on June 26. The following 12 will happen on Sept. 30, and the final four will be on Dec. 31. Some sales and engineering roles will go remote.

This action is the latest in Coperion’s transformation over the past two years, which includes the addition of premier brands and products to its technology suite, enabling the company to offer enhanced solutions to customers.

“I am confident that streamlining our US operations will enable us to strengthen our support for customers in the Americas and allow us to uphold our commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative solutions,” says Ulrich Bartel, president of Coperion.
