Oakland, CA-based Clorox Co. announced Friday that its new manufacturing facility in Martinsburg, WV has officially started production of Fresh Step and Scoop Away cat litter products.
“Our third facility in the state, this world-class operation will allow us to move faster and work smarter to meet consumer needs,” Michelle Holly, vice president of product supply services for Clorox, said in a company release.
The location includes a 97,000-sq-ft main building and an offsite warehouse with 450,000 sq ft of space. Operations are expected to reach full capacity by early 2023.
Over 100 new jobs will be created as a result of the plant’s opening, including engineering, management, and production positions.
Clorox executives were joined by Gov. Jim Justice, US Sen Shelley Moore Capito and other officials to mark the opening of the facility on October 21.
Plans for the facility were first announced in January 2020. A release issued by Gov. Justice’s office at the time noted that Clorox chose the site because of the region’s transportation infrastructure, resources, and the local workforce.
