NDC Infrared Engineering Celebrates Five Years in Japan

NDC is proud to announce the fifth anniversary of the opening of its direct sales and service office in Tokyo, Japan.

When the office opened in 2003, Hiroo Aiba, Hideo Shimizu, and Kikuro Kubota offered over 60 years of combined experience in providing product measurement and control solutions to Japanese industry. This expertise, along with NDC’s wide range of sensor, scanner, and display systems, gave Japanese manufacturers the reliability and advanced technology they were seeking to meet their application challenges.

Five years later, the NDC Japan office has seen strong growth in the extrusion, converting, nonwovens, and paper industries as well as in foods, pharmaceuticals, and industrial processes. Most important, clients have seen product quality improvements, reduction in scrap, and a timely return on their investment.

“Though we were very optimistic at the beginning, we knew as a start up, we would be facing challenges,” said Aiba, manager of NDC Japan. “Thanks to the fact NDC had a worldwide operation with many installations in prominent companies, we were given good opportunities to demonstrate the benefits of our products. We are proud of the success we have had in five short years, with a tripling of annual sales of NDC products within Japan during that time.”

NDC Infrared Engineering offers an extensive range of non-contact sensors and systems for measurement of moisture, fat, protein, and continuous web processes variables such as coat weight and film thickness.

The group's range of complementary measurement technologies for the web industry includes infrared absorption, beta transmission, gamma backscatter, X-ray fluorescence and transmission, laser caliper and UV absorption. Applications include blown film, cast film, paper, foil and film converting, pulp and paper, nonwovens, rubber and plastics sheet materials, tire production and plastic pipe manufacture. Products range from hand-held, portable devices for QA checks, to complete on-line system solutions for continuous precision measurement and process control.
