Chemical Safety Software Releases EMS 5.0 and iPad Apps

Chemical Safety Software (www.chemicalsafety.com) has released version 5.0 of its Environmental Management Systems (EMS) software, along with integrated iPad apps.

“Managing hazardous materials on mobile devices such as barcode scanners and PDAs has always been part of our offering, so the shift to the iPad was a natural,” said Robert Dunn, director of sales and marketing at Chemical Safety. “Plus, the demand is clearly there.”

EMS 5.0 is based on the DotNet framework, which offers many benefits – web browser interoperability, the ability to add custom queries and forms, and improved navigation, speed, and stability. “Overall, the user experience is making a great leap forward,” added Tony Diamantidis, executive vice president.

Chemical Safety’s EMS is a complete environmental management software solution, comprised of integrated modules for Facility Management, Chemical Inventory, Waste, MSDS, Human Resources and Radioisotope management.

As an enterprise software solution, EMS is available in multiple languages and is integrated with the regulatory requirements of U.S. federal, state, and local reporting rules, European Union rules including REACH, compliance rules of countries in Asia, including China and Japan, and international rules such the United Nations-sanctioned GHS, which creates globally uniform chemical labeling and classification. GHS is being adopted by OSHA in the second quarter of 2012.

EMS includes tools for managing surplus chemicals and a Greener Chemical Alternatives search feature based on data from the U.S. EPA – or approved by various entities as environmentally friendly – which can be cross-referenced to an organization’s chemical inventories. This allows chemist and principal investigators to search for and obtain more environmentally friendly chemicals, thus reducing hazards in the workplace.
