Projects in the North American food & beverage sector have risen dramatically since October.

The latest research by SalesLeads reveals 74 new projects, which includes facility expansions, new plant construction, renovations/equipment modernization projects, and plant closings. October had 51 planned projects.

Of the new projects, 61 were processing facilities and 24 were distribution and industrial warehouses. Here is the breakdown of new projects according to type:

  • New Construction – 21

  • Expansion – 15

  • Upgrades – 47

  • Plant Closing – 4

The largest project SalesLeads tracked over $100 million is by Electrolit USA, a hydration beverage company. Electrolit is a Mexican product manufactured by Grupo Pisa, a leading pharmaceutical company in Latin America. Electrolit is planning to invest $400 million for the construction of a 600,000-sq.-ft distribution and processing facility in Waco, TX.

NEW YORK

Ice-cream manufacturer Wells Enterprises is planning to invest $175 million for a 133,000-sq.-ft expansion and equipment upgrades on a processing facility in Dunkirk. They are seeking approval for the project.

SOUTH CAROLINA

Nestlé is planning to invest $150 million in the expansion and equipment upgrades at its frozen foods processing facility in Gaffney. They are seeking approval for the project.

MISSISSIPPI

Poultry processing company Koch Foods is planning to invest $145.5 million for the expansion, renovation, and equipment upgrades at their processing facility in Morton. They are seeking approval for the project.

TEXAS

US Foods Inc., a foodservice distributor, is planning to invest $120 million for a 170,000-sq.-ft expansion and equipment upgrades for its distribution facility in Buda. Completion is slated for early 2027.

FLORIDA

Food and beverage distributor G&C Foods is planning to invest $100 million in the construction of a 681,000-sq.-ft distribution center in Alachua. Completion is slated for late 2026.

MISSOURI

Kraft Heinz is planning to invest $93 million for the expansion, renovation, and equipment upgrades on its Oscar Mayer processing facility in Columbia. They are currently seeking approval for the project.

WISCONSIN

New Glarus Brewing Co. is planning to invest $55 million for a 65,000-sq.-ft expansion and equipment upgrades on their production, office, and storage facility in New Glarus. Construction is expected to start in early 2025, with completion in fall 2026.

SOUTH CAROLINA

Milo’s Tea Co., a specialty beverage manufacturer, is planning to invest $53 million for the expansion and equipment upgrades on their processing in Moore. They are currently seeking approval for the project.

MICHIGAN

Fruit juice manufacturer Peterson Farms is planning to invest $30 million for the expansion, renovation, and equipment upgrades for their processing and storage facility in Shelby. They are currently seeking approval for the project.

ONTARIO

A candy manufacturer is planning to invest $27 million for the renovation and equipment upgrades on a 194,000-sq.-ft laboratory, warehouse, and office facility at 336 Courtland Ave. in Vaughan.
