Level Switches for Packed Powder Applications
May 6, 2016
The Dynatrol GJ level switch is designed for application to either high or low point level detection of bulk solids. It is constructed to handle sensitive or problem applications that tend to pack or bridge easily.
The GJ detector operates successfully with consistent results on applications such as flour, cocoa, sugar, pharmaceutical powders, powdered lime, and many other bulk solid materials. This level switch is approved for Class I, Groups C & D; Class II, Groups E, F, & G; and Class III services, CSA C/USA approved.
The uncovered paddle is free to vibrate, producing an output signal. This signal operates a relay indicating the paddle is uncovered - a low level exists. When the paddle is covered a dampening of the oscillations occurs and the relay indicates that a high level exists.
The on/off signal from the detector operates a SPDT relay in the EC-501A(G) control unit. The contacts of this relay can be used to actuate alarms, indicator lights, or process control equipment.
Installation is simple. The level switch is mounted through a ¾-in. half-coupling at the point of desired level detection.
Dynatrol detectors are constructed for long operating life. Requiring no adjustments and having no moving parts, they are virtually wear-free. There are Dynatrol level switches have been in service for 25-30 years.
