A trailer fire occurred at the LafargeHolcim cement plant in Whitehall, PA.

Crews from multiple fire departments on Monday, April 10, 2023, battled the blaze', reported Lehigh Live news.

The fire broke out at the plant around 11 p.m. Monday. Crews found three trailers on fire that were being used as storage for tires, said Whitehall Bureau of Fire Chief David Nelson.

Lehigh News reported that Nelson said the rubber made the flames difficult to extinguish and it took crews from at least four different departments until 5 a.m. Tuesday to get it under control. Another obstacle was the closest water hydrant being more than 3,000 feet away from the scene.

A Whitehall Township firefighter was injured as crews worked all night to bring the blaze under control.

Holcim Cement merged with Lafarge in 2015. The company is a global leader in innovative and sustainable building materials
