An explosion at a soybean plant owned by Heartland Crush in Marengo, IA Thursday morning left multiple people injured and caused home evacuations.

The facility includes a grain elevator and soybean crushing equipment to produce soybean oil and soybean meal.

Multiple fire departments were at the scene, along with several medical helicopters. The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics reported that it had received multiple patients.

City officials urged all residents to stay inside to avoid the dense smoke.
