Six workers were critically injured in an explosion at the GM Iron & Steel Plant in Oshida, Eastern India.
The workers sustained injuries when they came in contact with fumes of molten iron.

As many as six workers were critically injured in an explosion at the GM Iron and Steel plant in Oshida, Eastern India, Wednesday afternoon.

The explosion took place at a furnace in the plant in the evening. 

According to reports, some workers were in the No. 3 convection inside the plant, when suddenly an explosion occurred. As a result, six workers were seriously injured.

The company said the workers sustained injuries after they came in contact with the fumes of molten iron during maintenance work at the furnace. 

Initially, the injured persons were admitted to a private hospital at Talcher and later were shifted to another hospital as their condition got more serious.

 

Company authorities reportedly closed the main gate of the steel plant soon after the incident, sources added, and no contact could be established with them for comments in connection with the matter.

Parjang police reached the steel plant and launched a probe into the incident.
