Firefighters responded to the Thomas Plastic Machinery Inc. plant in Scottsburg, IN on Thursday after a blast occurred in a fuel tank and a fire broke out, local news organizations reported.

Officials told television news station WDRB that nine fire departments were on scene after the incident occurred at about 10 a.m.

“The Scottsburg Fire Department just cleared the scene of a large commercial structure fire with multiple explosions. Upon arrival heavy fire and smoke had well involved the approximately 20,000-sq-ft building,” a post said in the Scottsburg Fire & Rescue page on Facebook.

Officials said one injury occurred during the incident.

Firefighters were able to control the flames after battling the blaze for more than six hours, ABC News affiliate WHAS said.
