Grain Silo Explosion in France Injures Four

A silo explosion and fire at a grain storage facility operated by Comptoir agricole in Strasbourg, France on Wednesday left several people with injuries, Reuters and several other English language news organizations reported.  

The blast was reported at about 9:30 a.m., and flames ignited soon after, TheJournal.ie reported. About 70 fire personnel responded to the incident at the site, according to coverage by the UK’s Express.

Officials told news organizations that four people received injuries during the explosion and fire. A report by The Daily Sabah noted that workers were performing maintenance duties in the silo when the explosion occurred.

The facility has a capacity of 40,000 tn, grain brokers in the area told Reuters. Comptoir agricole is an agricultural cooperative.
