Firefighters were sent to a grain elevator in Brooks, AB on Wednesday afternoon after a fire ignited in the facility, Canadian news organizations reported. Three workers were injured during the incident.

The fire was called in at about 1:35 p.m. After arriving at the scene, personnel transported the three hurt workers to a local hospital. Officials asked the public to avoid the area during the response, according to coverage by CTV Calgary.

“Alberta Occupational Health and Safety has been engaged and will investigate in collaboration with Brooks RCMP,” police said in a statement to The Canadian Press. Crews remained on scene for several hours to douse flames.

Reports noted that the grain elevator is located near a JBS Canada meat processing plant.

The cause of the blaze will be determined during the investigation.
