Firefighters responded to a fire in a five-story tall dryer at an animal food ingredients and supplements production plant in South Dakota early Monday morning, several local news organizations reported.

Workers evacuated the Sterling Technology plant after staff observed fire in the facility and the readings of the control room’s temperature hit 600 degrees. Brookings Fire Department Chief Darrell Hartmann told the Brookings Registerthat firefighters received two reports of explosions before making their way to the scene.

Reports said the blaze was contained to the five-story stainless steel dryer. A firefighter was transported to an area hospital for an evaluation and was later released, according to coverage by BrookingsRadio.com.

Firefighters were at the scene until about 4:30 a.m. Coverage did not indicate whether operations at the site would be impacted or not.

Sterling Technology produces colostrum-based animal food ingredients and health-related products.
