Fire Reported at Nestle Confectionery Plant

Firefighters responded to a blaze at Nestle USA confectionery plant in Burlington, WI on Wednesday, the Racine Journal-Times reported.

Called to the scene at about 11 am, crews arrived at the Pine Street scene to find heavy smoke coming from a production units, the newspaper said, citing a Burlington Fire Department release. A thermal imaging camera identified hot spots in conveyor ductwork and a filter unit in a piece of equipment within the production area. 

The fire out and the scene was cleared by 1:46 pm, said the Journal-Times’ coverage. No injuries were logged during the incident. Officials are investigating the cause of the fire. 

Nestle’s plant in Burlington manufactures Toll House chocolate morsels and food ingredients, according to an earlier report by the Kenosha News

Earlier this month, the Swiss food and beverage giant said it is selling its ice cream business to Froneri, an ice cream-focused joint venture Nestlé created in 2016 with PAI Partners.
