A fire broke early Thursday morning at the Nutrien Ag Solutions fertilizer blending facility in Mulberry, FL, forcing officials to temporarily shut block access to portions of a local roadway, several local news organizations.

Polk County Fire Rescue spokesperson Chris Jonckheer summed up the incident as, “basically chicken feces that was on fire,” in an interview with Tampa Bay, FL-based television news station WTSP.

Tom Carlisle, a Nutrien Ag Solutions operations manager, said in a report by the Lakeland Ledger that the cause of the incident was not feces, but a smoldering sulfur in a concrete bin.

Fire crews were called to the site just after midnight Thursday and remained on scene until past 7 a.m., according to the newspaper’s coverage. No injuries were logged during the incident.

Nutrien Ag Solutions produces crop protection and nutritional products, fertilizers, seed, and offers agriculture-related services. The firm describes itself as “the world’s largest agriculture inputs company.”
