A building at a Bogart, GA commercial bakery complex was destroyed Monday afternoon after a fire started while workers were installing a fan inside the plant, local news organizations reported.

Crews from several area fire departments were called to the Benson’s Bakery facility after the blaze was reported at about 3 p.m. Firefighters were able to keep the flames contained to one structure in the bakery complex, according to coverage by the Athens Banner-Herald

“They were cutting a hole for a fan, and the fire started in the insulation,” Oconee County Sheriff Scott R. Berry told The Oconee Enterprise.

It is thought a spark from the work on the fan made contact with the insulation, officials said in a video posted to Facebook. No injuries were logged during the incident.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement on Monday telling Benson’s Bakery second shift workers to stay at home. Reports said some 400 workers will be impacted by the destruction of the Bogart plant.
