A fire January 4 at the Kordin Grain Terminal in the Mediterranean Sea destroyed appoximately 1,000 tons of alfalfa animal feed. No injuries were reported.

The company reported that the fire was caused by natural fermentation within a silo, which caused temperatures to increase drastically. The fire was contained to one silo, with 300 tons of alfalfa in another silo. The fire took 24 hours to extinguish.

Due to the war in Ukraine, the terminal had been storing a larghe amount of grain for a longer period of time, which increased the risk of fermentation.

According to its webiste, the Kordin Grain Terminal handles and stores grains, and offers a variety of services, including loading, storage, and discharge of grains.
