A fire at Santolubes Manufacturing plant in Spartanburg, SC, resulted from non-toxic powders, fire officials state.
The chemical plant manufactures synthetic fluids, lubricants, and greases.

A fire Wednesday night at Santolubes Manufacturing chemical plant in Spartanburg County, SC, according to fire Chief Ryan Eubanks with South Spartanburg Fire Department.

The fire broke out around 6:45 p.m. with several fire departments responding.

Local news WYFF 4 reported that, according to Eubanks, the fire broke out inside and firefighters have contained it. He said the fire involved various non-toxic powders used in plastics and paper products.

The company produces synthetic fluids, lubricants, and greases.

Fire crews are monitoring the air quality and water runoff as a precaution, Eubanks said.

No injuries have been reported.
