A fire broke out at the Kingsford Manufacturing charcoal production plant in Summer Shade, KY on Jan. 7 that drew a response from several area fire departments, several local news organizations reported.

Flames ignited at the Summer Shade road site around 12:35 p.m. and spread to the plant’s bagging house and five silos, according to coverage by the Edmonton Herald-News. A conveyor system in the fire’s path was declared a loss.

Several people who observed the incident interviewed by ABC News affiliate WBKO said that two of the silos exploded. Metcalfe County Emergency Management Director Emory Kidd told the television news station that a total of eight fire departments were called to the scene.

Crews remained on site until 8 p.m. to monitor for hot spots and flare ups, the Herald-News report stated. No one was injured during the fire.
