This is the third incident for the company since July.

Emergency responders from several fire departments rushed to large grain silos at a grain elevator just west of Webberville, MI, on Wednesday morning for what appears to have been a fire in one of the bins.

The call came in around 7:40, and crews arrived to find a fire burning in the large storage facility at Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) that holds 1.1 million bushels of corn.

Once crews were able to access the fire, they were able to extinguish rather quickly. As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, crews were still on scene cooling hot spots and monitoring the scene.

The ADM Webberville grain handling facility specializes in the storage and transportation of various grain including corn.

Fires are somewhat commonplace for granaries, for the amount of dust they cause as well as the type of product they store and process — both of which can be combustible in nature.

In September, a silo fire occurred at the ADM Grain in Cass County, IN. And in July, an explosion occurred at the company's processing complex in Decatur, IL.
