Several windows were shattered in an explosion Wednesday night at the Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) flour mill in Calgary, AB, local news organizations reported.
Crews responded to the site at about 7 p.m. after receiving reports of the blast. Upon arrival, firefighters determined that the site of the explosion was on the facility’s 10th floor, coverage by the Calgary Heraldsaid.
17 workers on site evacuated the building. No injuries were logged during the incident. Small fires that ignited after the explosion were extinguished by sprinklers on site and firefighters.
“There’s no real structural damage,” Fire official Bruce Gelhorn told GlobalNews.ca. “There’s some broken glass – that would be about the extent of damage to the building.”
ADM’s mill in Calgary produces a range of bakery mixes, ingredients, and flours, according to information on the the company’s website.
Officials said the cause of the blast is under investigation.
