An explosion and toxic checmial release at the Honeywell plant in Geismar, LA caused road closures and a shelter in place Monday night.

No injuries were reported and the road closures were lifted when the facility and surrounding area were deemed safe about an hour after the explosion.

It was not know how much chemical was released, and the exact cause of the explosion and leak were still being determined, according to state regulators.
